Final Post of the Weekend - Inspired by My Pending Summer Holiday!

So this card is working with the colours of my last card...Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Yellow and Olive Green.  They just shout SUMMER to me which is the theme over on the Allsorts Challenge!

I've made this user Summer Silhouettes with a greeting from Flower Patch stamp sets, both from Stampin' Up!  The photo has a lovely shadow cast from my blind that I hope you can ignore!

I was going for another one-layer card so I made a clear line across the card with Post-Its and started stamping my flowers and foliage.  I added the stems, blended the green around the bottom of the leaves and added the greeting.....using an acrylic block I'd just cleaned....and left a splodge just below the sentiment, hence the carefully placed butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Sizzlits :-)

This is a close up of the flowers, finished with a touch of glamour dust (as usual). So, as the card was no longer one layer, I cut it down, matted it to Real Red before sticking to a card blank.

Now here's the question:  What does One-Layer mean to you?

Does it allow for embellishments, matting and glitter or is it as the name suggest strictly ONE-LAYER?

I'd be interested to know what you think :-)

One Layer Madness

Inspired by Less is More yesterday I've been making more one layer cards this weekend....and just before the light dies, I've managed to get (hopefully) decent pictures.

This card is for the One Layer Simplicity Challenge: Strip Down! Yes!  I've been crafting in my underwear :-)  Not really!

The challenge is to create a strip down the side of the card.  I masked my strip with Post-Its and then used the flowers and leaves from Garden in Bloom (masking those where necessary) to create a pretty pattern on the left side.  I added the greeting and the butterfly (also from Garden in Bloom) to finish it off...not forgetting scribbling liquid pearls in the centre of the flowers.

Catching up with Less is More

Tuesday already and only just getting a chance to peruse my favourite blogs.  Over on Less is More, it's a recipe - Snippets - and Chrissie's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Chrissie :-)

Problem with card making at night....rubbish pics!

I've made this card by punching snippet flowers from the mat ....ssshhhhh!  Don't tell anyone!  It's using the Bordering Blooms and one of my favourite colour combos, Old Olive and Cajun Craze. I've finished it off with a bit of liquid pearls for the flower centres and a trail of pearls through the vine....although quality of pic and all that...sigh!  That's the problem with crafting at night....ropey pics!

It's the Wetlands Stampin' Up set again, this time set in the sand dunes (done with a bit of masking).  I've added birds in the distance (from Inkilious) And the theme of the card is simply....ENJOY!

One Layer.....and Masculine?

It's always a favourite......Cards for men! That's the theme on Simply Less is More this week. Oh and it has to be one layer too!

For such a simple card, I've used three Stampin' Up sets!  The splodge is from Sheltering Tree, the flowers are from World of Dreams and the sentiment is from Sprinkles of Life.

I've used the colours from the challenge on The Paper Players too;  Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate and Sahara Sand.

I asked my hubby if this was man enough, and I think it just about scrapes through!  It's all right for an old man, apparently!

New Stampin' Up Colours!

Evening all

I've been checking out the CAS Colour and Sketch Challenge following my success the other week. This week we''re challenged to use the newest Stampin' Up Colours.

Yeah....I'd love to have them too but I'm still waiting on my order coming through!  So instead I've used the nearest colours I have which are Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze and good ol' Crumb Cake :-)

I've punched these heart balloons out of the designer papers from Salebration, the string of the balloon is from Hello Life and the birthday greeting is from Butterfly Basics.  I think that set is definitely my favourite at the mo....until I get my new order at least :-)

So I'm entering this in to the CAS Colour and Sketches Challenge.

I'm also entering this on the Clear it Out Challenge where they have an Anything Goes challenge.

A Flowery Challenge

Flowers are always a favourite!  I love stamping and punching them as you might tell.  Well, flowers and butterflies....oh and the occasional dragonfly.  Let's face it...I like stamping and punching :-)

I made this card with the  Paper Shelter challenge in mind (Flowers!) but still using the colours from the Color Throwdown Challenge I entered earlier:

So I'm going to enter this in both challenges :-)

Petite Petals

This is using the Petite Petals and Woodgrain stamps from Stampin' Up.  

It's a 5x7" card which is slightly bigger than the woodgrain background stamp so I've hidden the join with a cunning border which turned out to be a handy place to hang my sentiment :-)

I've glammed the flowers up with perfect pearls and a bit of glamour dust, just to add sparkle.

Color Throwdown : Summer is coming!

Evening all

After a lovely day in Derbyshite with the family, what better way to finish the day then with a bit of card making!  I'm off with the Challenges again, playing with the Color Throwdown Challenge first.  Summer is definitely getting closer and these are such lovely, lazy summer colours!

It's actually Coral Pink, Light Yellow and Spring Green....although on my monitor the sample yellow looks a bit pinky!

So here it is:

It's inspired by Brandy's Cards (my favourite youtuber!) but the Butterfly Basics stamp set from Stampin' Up is so easy to use, I'm off to get creative!

CAS Colours and Sketches

Evening all!

I've been checking out (some might say stalking) The Other Fickle Pixie's challenge blogs and thought I'd join in with this quick card for CAS Colours and Sketches.  I'm also starting the catch up cos she's been very busy on the challenge scene recently and I...well...haven't!

So....

A very CAS card done in the colours of Elegant Eggplant, Crushed Curry and Garden Green (nearly!).  I layered the flower trail of Petite Petals up and blinged a few of them too.  Finished it off with an inked edge and the happy birthday greeting from Butterfly basics!  One of my favourite sets at the mo.

Now I think I'm going to try a few more colour combinations!

Morning!

A quick post before we're out to the garden centre again!  We're determined to have thegarden sorted for summer!

Krafty Bouquets

Hello!

Just got time for one last challenge today!  I love using kraft card so CAS-ual Fridays challenge is right up my street this week.  Krafty Bouquets using kraft, flowers and twine.

Cajun Craze goes brilliantly with kraft card.  I've grouped it with Crumb Cake and Riding Hood Red using the Flower Patch stamps for this card.

I created different versions of this card for Easter....not very good photos (they're all package up and ready to sell) but you get the idea :-)

Back to CAS

Ok…my last couple of cards have been borderline CAS recently so I’m getting back to the Clean and Simple look today but  I’m sticking with the blue theme:

I’ve used the Level One Hostess Set from Stampin’ Up!  Silhouette Sentiments and stamped flowers in Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Marina Mist and Baha Breeze.  I’ve then inked around the stems to “ground them”.  (I’ve actually used this technique before.  You can see it here.)
I’ve matted the image on to  Marina Mist, adding a border with the Scallop trim punch, and 3d’d it to the front of a 15cm card.
BUT what to do for the sentiment?  I’ve used a dark card blank (Night of Navy) and having constructed my card before thinking about the sentiment I was a little stuck for the medium to use….
So I resorted to good old-fashioned handwriting.  Adds a personal touch too.  I’ve used the Signo uni-ball Gel Pen for this….available from Stampin’ Up! at £3.75. 
So I hope you like it.  I definitely think this technique of stamping a “wild field of flowers” is soo suitable for any occasion.  I’d love to see your versions…

LIM: Framed Flowers

Morning all!  Just a quick post today as it’s a day full of football (again!!).  Thanks for all your comments yesterday about my photo….it really was a blue card though and not a dark picture…LOL!  I don’t think I’ll be using Baja Breeze as a card blank again.  But I thought I’d check out this Picasa everyone is raving about and I’m glad I did.
It is a grey day today so perfect opportunity!  Can you tell which one has been Picasa’d:

This is my latest entry for the in the frame challenge over on Less is More.  I masked a 5 cm band across a 15cm card blank using post-it notes and stamped flowers from Silhouette Sentiment in Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler.  I finished it off by blending Old Olive along the bottom of the frame using Cut ‘n’ Dry.  After removing the post-it notes I used the piercing mat from Stampin’ Up to frame it.
So I hope you like it….and I too can now highly recommend Picasa .

Less Is More–Monochromatic

Woohoo….it’s Saturday and Dad is home to entertain the children so although the sun is shining, I’ve found time to check out the Less is More Challenge this week (it was actually the first thing I checked this morning…but don’t want to seem too keen.  The theme is MONOCHROMATIC:

I’ve never really done much with monochrome so this is probably my first ever monochromatic card.  I doubt it shall be my last! LOL!
I’ve used the ‘Just Believe’ Stamp set in Basic Black.  The sentiment is from Silhouette Sentiments.  I stamped the image once, then aligned it with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped it again without re-inking it.  I also inked the edges of the card before matting it on to Basic Black card.
I finished it off with some clear rhinestones under the sentiment and a fancy bow in black.

But it’s  not a very cheery card, is it?  So you know I’m going to have to have another go!  Chrissie and Mandi’s challenges can keep me busy all week!!
Well, off to enjoy the remainder of the sun.  I think we’re off swimming too.  Come back soon for more .

Love weddings?

Weddings are my favourite celebration!  In fact I wish I could get married again just for the thrill of it.  Might be one to consider for next year on our 10th anniversary….hmmm!
Tonight I’ve been playing!  Now I’m still building up my Stampin’ Up stash but with the few sets and things I have, it’s not difficult to get great results!  Especially with the colour pallettes they have!  I bet you’d even match Midnight Blue, Kelly .
So this is what I’ve made today (back to gloomy pics I’m afraid):

I’ve used Pretty in Pink as the colour on this invitation and used my Sizzix Bigshot to add a spotty texture to the bottom of the card.  I’ve added Stampin’ Up pearls to the centre of the flower to give them the “wedding” feel.  I’ve entered this card in the “Anything goes” challenge – Pearls.
The beauty of simple invites like these is that you could use any colour with it.

I’ve used Marina Mist in this card.
This invitation uses the Pick a Petal set to make sketchy flowers on a plain white card base.  I love my new stamp-a-ma-gig gadget! It’s ingenious and means I never have to stamp blind again!



And finally I’m back to my I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and Real Red!  This particular stamp just shouts wedding!!!  I think the clean  and simple style is perfect for weddings…and so easy to make with Stampin’ Up products .
Sooo looking forward to wedding season!!!  Let me know what you think…

One last card from the Crafternoon

Ok….I think I’ve milked the Crafteroon enough, so just one last card .  But isn’t it nice to have lovely bright pictures instead of the gloomy night shots *sigh*.  So here it is:

Once again, I’ve trusted in my Color Coach and its not let me down!  I’ve used all the hearts for this card.  Sentiment is from Heard from the Heart and the stamp is from I {Heart} Hearts.   The colours are Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette and Early Espresso.  I’ve back it with a white border, but used Stampin’ Up Dimensionals to make the hearts “pop”.  Again, a very clean and simple design but effective.

New Blog Challenge

My godfathers! I swear these posts are getting later and later!! But YAY!  I’ve found a new blog challenge to join in with!  Unfortunately I didn’t find it until about an hour ago….but it helped me challenge my creativity in to this card.
I’ve spent all night trying out my new stamps and inks *girly hand clap*. It’s been absolute bliss, although I didn’t actually make anything until I found the new challenge to enter.  I’ve made this card for the sketch challenge over on Clean and Simple Stamping.  There’s some lovely entries already so it’s worth taking a look .
I’ve made my card using (what is proving to be) my favourite flower stamp from the Simply Said stamp set.  It’s just so versatile and easy to use.  I’ve stamped it in Old Olive, Real Red and Baja Breeze and matted it to make an A5 card(to give it lots of white space).
My new Colour Coach (or Color Coach) from Stampin’ Up! told me that these colours worked together…and I don’t think it’s wrong!  I’ve embellished with a crystal in each of the flowers and finished it of with a ‘happy birthday’ sentiment.
I’m just loving CAS!!!
